Dubai Metro Map 2026: Lines, Stations, Zones & Future Connections

Dubai Metro currently operates two main lines: the Red Line and the Green Line. Route 2020 is an extension of the Red Line to Expo City, not a third line. The 30 km Blue Line is under construction for a 9 September 2029 opening, while the approved 42 km Gold Line is scheduled for 9 September 2032. The Dubai Tram links to the Metro at two Red Line stations.
This guide is a table-based map: which line goes where, which stations are interchanges, how zones and fares work, and which future lines are confirmed and which are only proposed. Station names can change under RTA naming-rights agreements. This guide uses the names shown in RTA's Metro and tram timings document as checked in October 2026, together with the RTA station codes, and names future stations only by the area they serve. Everything below was checked in October 2026, and the link next to each fact shows where.

It leaves the Red Line at Jebel Ali station and runs about 15 km to Expo City, with seven stations: Jebel Ali (the junction), The Gardens, Discovery Gardens, Al Furjan, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai Investments Park and Expo 2020 (R76). MEED describes it as 11.8 km elevated and 3.2 km in tunnels, with five elevated and two underground stations. Expo 2020 station serves Expo City Dubai, which is in the Dubai South district.
Green Line Stations
The Green Line stays in old Dubai and has 20 stations between e& (G11) and Creek (G30). It runs from Al Qusais and Al Nahda through Abu Hail and Salah Al Din to Union, then Baniyas Square, Gold Souq, Al Ras and Al Ghubaiba, before crossing to BurJuman, Oud Metha, Dubai Healthcare City, Al Jadaf and Creek. Creek is where the Blue Line will connect to the Green Line.

Station names and codes are as shown in the RTA Metro and tram timings document, checked in October 2026. Which station is closest to a particular building depends on the address, so check the RTA journey planner.
Zones, Fares and Opening Hours
The RTA divides Dubai into 7 zones, each with Metro, tram and bus stops. The fare depends on how many zones you cross, not on how many stations you pass, and you pay with a nol card. If you check out of the Metro and tap onto a bus within 30 minutes, the two trips are charged as one journey (see the RTA's transfer conditions). These are the fares published on the RTA nol fares page, checked in October 2026.
| Journey | Silver nol card (AED) | Gold nol card (AED) | Red ticket, regular (AED) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Within 1 zone | 3 | 6 | 4 |
| 2 adjacent zones | 5 | 10 | 6 |
| More than 2 zones | 7.50 | 15 | 8.50 |
Gold class passengers pay a surcharge on top of the regular fare on the Metro and tram, according to the RTA. Students, seniors and people of determination have separate concessions on the same page.
| Day | Metro hours (all lines) |
|---|---|
| Monday to Thursday | 05:00 to 00:00 (midnight) |
| Friday | 05:00 to 01:00 (next day) |
| Saturday | 05:00 to 00:00 (midnight) |
| Sunday | 08:00 to 00:00 (midnight) |

Dubai Tram and Metro Connections
The Dubai Tram connects with the Red Line at Sobha Realty and DMCC, serves the Marina, JBR and Jumeirah Lakes Towers area, and runs along Al Sufouh Road towards the Palm Jumeirah monorail. It uses the same nol card and zone system as the Metro.

The Gulf News report quotes the RTA saying the line will give nine areas a direct connection with Dubai International Airport: Mirdif, Al Warqa, International City 1 and 2, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City, Ras Al Khor Industrial Area, Dubai Creek Harbour and Dubai Festival City. Construction progress comes from the Dubai Media Office release of 3 May 2026. The cost figure comes from AGBI. For a longer read on the route, see our Blue Line stations guide. The RTA description names areas rather than a complete list of all 14 station names, so use its published map for exact station names once available.
Gold Line (Approved) and the Airport Metro Study
Dubai Metro Gold Line: Approved
The Gold Line is the only future line with an announced route and opening date. The Route 2020 airport connection is a study-stage proposal, not an approved project.
| Project | What is announced | Stage | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gold Line | 42 km, fully underground, 18 stations, AED 34 billion. The Dubai Media Office names these route points: Al Ghubaiba, Mina Rashid, City Walk, Business Bay, Mohammed Bin Rashid City, Nad Al Sheba, Mohammed bin Rashid Gardens, Meydan, Al Barsha South and Jumeirah Village Circle, ending at Jumeirah Golf Estates. It connects to the Red Line at Business Bay and Jumeirah Golf Estates, to the Green Line at Al Ghubaiba, and to Etihad Rail at Meydan and Jumeirah Golf Estates. | Approved on 22 April 2026. Scheduled to open on 9 September 2032. Tender planned for 2026, contract award for 2027. | Dubai Media Office and The National |
| Route 2020 airport connection | In 2021 the RTA Rail Agency chief executive said Route 2020 will be extended from Expo 2020 station to Al Maktoum International Airport. | Future / study connection: not under construction, no opening date announced. In September 2026 a tender was released to appoint an international consultant to start the study stage. | Gulf News (2021) and The National |
The Dubai Media Office release names the Gold Line route points rather than all 18 stations, so we list only those. For the airport side of Dubai South, see our guide to Al Maktoum Airport and property and the Dubai South area guide.
Communities Without a Metro Station
Many communities away from Sheikh Zayed Road have no station today. Pearlshire builds in two of them, Arjan and DLRC, so here is the plain position.
- Arjan: no station. The RTA feeder bus F36 connects to the Mall of the Emirates Metro station. See our Arjan connectivity guide for drive times.
- DLRC: no station inside the community. Dubai Silicon Oasis and Academic City, both announced Blue Line stations, are in the same eastern corridor. Our DLRC Metro and connectivity guide covers it, and the Dubai Silicon Oasis guide and Academic City guide cover the stations themselves.
- Jumeirah Village Circle: no station today. The Gold Line, approved in April 2026 and scheduled for 2032, lists Jumeirah Village Circle as a route point.
When you compare communities, measure the real walking or feeder route to a station, not the straight line on a map. For buyers comparing communities, distinguish between a Metro station operating today, one under construction, and a future line that has only been approved. Our Dubai areas guide puts the main communities side by side, with Metro access for each.
How to Use the Map When Choosing a Home
- Check the journey, not the distance: run the RTA journey planner from the building to your workplace at the hour you would travel.
- Look at the feeder: a bus that comes every 20 minutes is a different commute from a station you can walk to.
- Do not rely on a future line for a decision you cannot reverse. Dates are targets, and a station is not always where the marketing map suggests.
- Ask the seller or landlord which station they mean and which route you would walk, then check it yourself.

How many Dubai Metro lines are there in 2026?
Two lines are operating: the Red Line and the Green Line. Route 2020 is a 15 km extension of the Red Line to Expo City, not a third line. The Blue Line is under construction for a 9 September 2029 opening, and the Gold Line was approved in April 2026 for 9 September 2032. Dates can move, so check the RTA before you plan around them.
Is Route 2020 a separate Metro line?
No. Route 2020 is a 15 km extension, or branch, of the Red Line that adds seven stations on the way to Expo 2020 and Expo City Dubai. It leaves the Red Line at Jebel Ali station. At Jebel Ali the Red Line splits into two arms: one continues to Life Pharmacy and the other, Route 2020, goes to Expo 2020.
When does the Dubai Metro Blue Line open?
The RTA has announced 9 September 2029. The Blue Line is 30 km long with 14 stations. It is under construction: RTA reported 20% completion when tunnelling works were inaugurated in May 2026, with 30% targeted by the end of 2026. Treat the date as the official target, and do not assume any home will sit next to a station.
When will the Dubai Metro Gold Line open?
RTA has scheduled the approved 42 km Gold Line to open on 9 September 2032. It is planned as a fully underground line with 18 stations, and it was approved on 22 April 2026. Tenders are planned for 2026 and the contract award for 2027, so treat the date as a target.
How much does a Dubai Metro journey cost?
RTA divides Dubai into 7 zones, and the fare depends on the zones you cross, not the number of stations. As checked in October 2026, a silver nol card journey costs AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 across two adjacent zones and AED 7.50 across more than two. Gold card fares are double, and a regular red ticket costs AED 4, AED 6 or AED 8.50. Confirm current fares on the RTA website.
Which Dubai Metro stations serve Dubai International Airport?
The Red Line has two airport stations, Airport Terminal 3 (R13) and Airport Terminal 1 (R14). The Blue Line will not have a station inside the airport, but the RTA says it will give nine areas, including Mirdif, International City and Dubai Silicon Oasis, a direct connection with Dubai International Airport.
Is there a Metro station in Arjan or DLRC?
Neither community has a Metro station inside it. Arjan relies on the RTA feeder bus F36 to the Mall of the Emirates Metro station. For DLRC, the announced Blue Line stations at Dubai Silicon Oasis and Academic City sit in the same eastern corridor, but check the real distance on the RTA map once it is published.
Will the Metro reach Al Maktoum Airport and Dubai South?
Not yet. RTA is studying a possible extension of the Route 2020 branch of the Red Line from Expo City to Al Maktoum International Airport, and in September 2026 a tender was released for a consultant to start the study stage. It is a study-stage proposal, not under construction, and no opening date has been announced, so treat it as planned, not scheduled.
What are the Dubai Metro opening hours?
On the RTA timetable page, checked in October 2026, the Metro runs from 05:00 to midnight Monday to Thursday and Saturday, from 05:00 to 01:00 the next day on Friday, and from 08:00 to midnight on Sunday. Hours can be extended for public holidays, New Year's Eve and major events, so check the RTA before you travel on special-event days.
